Finalists in New Zealand's premier building awards announced
The national finalists in the Registered Master Builders 2007 House of the Year and RMB Commercial Project Awards were announced today. The programme, sponsored by PlaceMakers, is in its 17th year and awards excellence in workmanship by Registered Master Builders throughout the country.
The 100 Gold Reserve finalists represent the very best of the 675 entrants in 20 regional competitions held throughout the country during June, July and August.
They will be vying for New Zealand's top two building honours - the 2007 House of the Year (winner of the PlaceMakers Supreme Award), and the RMB Commercial Project of the Year. These national titles, together with category winners and Lifestyle Awards will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner at Auckland's SkyCity Convention Centre on October 27.
Registered Master Builders Federation chief executive Pieter Burghout says the competition showcases the quality, innovation and excellence of its members', and creates an impressive national benchmark.
"The calibre of the finalists in this year's competition reflects the extremely high standard of residential builders and commercial construction in the industry. The judges will have a tough job selecting the ultimate winners and national winners in each category."
PlaceMakers chief executive David Edwards agrees: "At this level of the competition we see the best in the business delivering the highest standard. Every year that standard increases, and this year is no exception. It is also great to see first time entrants and new members doing so well"
The 100 finalists' properties will be rejudged during September and October to determine the winners in each category and the overall winners.
