NEW PRESENTER FOR NIGHTLINE

Samantha Hayes will be the new presenter for 3’s successful late-night news show
NIGHTLINE, replacing Carly Flynn, who is moving on to the breakfast show SUNRISE
alongside James Coleman.

Hayes joined the NIGHTLINE team as the Wellington-based arts and entertainment reporter in 2006 and has covered stories including Sir Ian McKellen’s tour of New Zealand with The Royal Shakespeare Company and Taika Waititi on his film, Eagle vs Shark.

Hayes has also worked in radio as a news editor, producer and announcer.

Mark Jennings, 3’s Director of News and Current Affairs comments: "From the time Samantha arrived at our Auckland newsroom for work experience, it was obvious she was destined to have a strong career in television news. I know she will bring her own style to the programme but keep alive the Nightline tradition of providing all the day’s top stories - but also having a bit of fun with some of the day's lighter developments."

NIGHTLINE consistently wins in the key AP18-49 demographic, ahead of competing news programmes. The show provides an overview of the day’s big news stories, along with breaking news from New Zealand and around the world. News stories are blended with arts and culture content, including profiles of rising artists and interviews with New Zealand’s well-known faces.

Hayes will be on screen from the 10th of September.
