Dalziel happy to be at Christchurch Small Business Expo
The Minister for Small Business and MP for Christchurch East, Hon Lianne Dalziel said she was delighted to be speaking at the first Small Business Expo in Christchurch, her hometown.
The Small Business Expo, which has run for three increasingly successful years in Auckland and in Wellington for this first time in July this year, is being run in Christchurch for the first time this week.
“It’s funny to think of this as the ‘small’ business expo, because it’s not a small event at all. The Small Business Expo is the largest event for business in New Zealand,” said Lianne Dalziel.
As the Christchurch Small Business Expo’s first keynote speaker during The National Bank Seminar Series, the Minister said she was looking forward to seeing the expo become an annual fixture for Canterbury businesses. “People who own and run New Zealand’s small businesses often tend to do every role within their business, so it’s difficult to step back and look at how their business is really running. This expo offers a great opportunity for people to take some time to look at their business and where they want it to go.”
Lianne Dalziel added: “Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are defined as those businesses that employ less than 20 people, make up 96 per cent of New Zealand firms. Obviously they are important to the New Zealand economy, but it is their unrealised potential for growth that makes them critical to the government’s economic transformation agenda and to New Zealand’s future.”
The Christchurch Small Business Expo runs from Wednesday 29 August to Friday 31 August at the Christchurch Convention Centre. Visit www.businessexpo.co.nz for more details.
