Accor wins Best Hotel Chain in HotelClub Awards
31 August 2007: Accor has been voted Best Hotel Chain for the second time in less than a month in a prestigious hotel & tourism awards event covering hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The vote as 'Best Hotel Chain' in the 2007 HotelClub Hotel Awards follows a similar award in the 2007 HotelManagement (HM) Awards for Excellence earlier this month.
Accor hotels also picked up numerous individual HotelClub awards:
Ibis Melbourne was voted the 'Best Affordable
Hotel' in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands
Sofitel Melbourne was voted as one of the 'Top 3 Hotels
in Victoria'
Novotel Atrium Darwin was voted as one of
the 'Top 2 Hotels in the Northern Territory'
Grand
Mercure St Moritz Queenstown was voted as one of the 'Top 3
Hotels in New Zealand'
"It is a great tribute to the team that we are winning so many awards across such a diverse range of categories," said Simon McGrath, Accor's Vice President Australia.
"To have both 5-star and 3-star hotels, as well as the Accor group as a whole, winning such prestigious awards highlights our unique ability to cover the full market spectrum. It is particularly satisfying that consumers play such an important role in these awards as they are the ultimate judges of a hotel's quality."
Hotel winners were chosen as a result of an on-line global survey hosted on the HotelClub website. More than 55,000 people participated in the poll, with 335 hotels shortlisted as finalists including nearly 50 Accor hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Consumers were asked to nominate hotels based on the following criteria (and to provide a score out of 10 for each criterion): ambience, family friendliness, rooms, restaurants, cleanliness, business facilities, location, leisure facilities, staff attitude and value for money.
