ISPANZ selects new board, officers

ISPANZ (the ISP Association of New Zealand) has elected a new board to promote diversity, competition and co-operation between service providers for the benefit of New Zealanders.

Incoming President Jamie Baddeley says he is pleased to have the support of a talented board, and looks forward to working with the best of NZ's Internet service providers. "..It's about ensuring that both business and residential customers are aware that there is a viable strong choice in terms of how Kiwi's connect with themselves and the world.. The strength of the Internet is its diversity."

Outgoing President David Diprose says that he's pleased with the outcome and looks forward to the new guard building upon past results. "ISPANZ works tirelessly to ensure that NZ's Internet is a place that offers Kiwis a real choice, and I know that ISPANZ will continue with the same energy and build on the momentum."

Members of the incoming ISPANZ Board are Jamie Baddeley - FX Networks (President), Graham Walmsley - Callplus (Vice President), Jenny Longhurst - ICONZ (Secretary/Treasurer) , Steven Bond-Smith - Orcon, Mark Frater - Compass and Kim Thibault - Maxnet.

ISPANZ members cover a broad spectrum of Internet Services, ranging from Fibre, Wireless and Infrastructure networking through to boutique hospitality online support through to large scale content delivery and more.

About ISPANZ:

ISPANZ is a non profit, industry group that represents most Internet Service Providers operating in New Zealand. Our membership includes all the major ISPs outside those of Telecom and TelstraClear; plus a broad range of medium and small ISPs. We exist to promote a fair and fully competitive Internet marketplace where our members can deliver the full benefits of the Internet to the New Zealand public and our economy. Our primary goals are to:

* Improve New Zealand's poor International ranking for broadband uptake,
* Enable New Zealand businesses to become more competitive internationally through use of Internet enabled technology,
* Improve Internet pricing and services for ordinary Kiwis,
* Enable New Zealand to reap significant economic benefits as it becomes a broadband enabled society.
