New Aussie Experiences Excite NZ Travel Industry
Key industry professionals set aside their winter blues to attend the annual Australia New Product Workshop, where 18 new Australian operators showcased their products. Hosted by the Australian State and Territories and Tourism Australia, the workshop is a platform for export-ready tourism operators to forge relationships with key contacts in the New Zealand travel industry and gain valuable insights into the market.
Held at the Hyatt Regency in Auckland, the workshop saw participation from 10 representatives of wholesalers such as Go Holidays, Gullivers, AIM Holidays, Travelplan Holidays, Air New Zealand Holidays, Young & Lee Tours; travel trade media and 14 Premier Aussie Specialist Agents. “New Zealanders are looking for new experiences for their holiday. It is good to see such diverse Australian products represented at the workshop – ranging from bike tours in the city to aboriginal bush tucker trails,” says June Thomas, product Manager Australia, House of Travel.

“Australia as a destination
has high awareness levels and steady preference and
visitation. However there is a need to constantly refresh
Australian holiday experiences and products, both with
consumers and trade. Workshops like this are a great
opportunity for industry professionals to get a first hand
update on Australian products and up sell to their
customers,” says Vito Anzelmi, Regional Manager, Tourism
Australia, New Zealand.
Delegates attending the workshop had the opportunity to sit down with tourism product suppliers and have one-on-one discussions about their products and what they had to offer potential New Zealand travellers. The workshop was well received by industry professionals and Premier Aussie Specialist Agents, who found it informative and a useful networking tool.
