Jetstar's Double The Difference Guarantee The Real Deal

Value-based airline Jetstar says the latest deals offered by competitors reinforce its position as the leading low fares carrier on the trans-Tasman route.

After Jetstar announced a major commitment to its low fares leadership by extending its Double the Difference Voucher Guarantee deal in July to include flights across the Tasman, Air New Zealand has responded by promising to beat its own fares by $10.

"Its great to see that we've stimulated more competition and better deals for travel across the Tasman," says Jetstar General Manager of Marketing and PR David May.

"However, we believe to provide the best value, you have to commit to offering lower fares than any other direct competitor on the same route – not just guarantee to beat your own online fares," Mr May said.

Mr May says Jetstar's Double the Difference Voucher Guarantee cements its position as the leading low fares airline operating on the trans-Tasman route, by offering the lowest web fares against any direct competitor airline at Jetstar.com or the customer gets a voucher for double the difference - guaranteed!

"Since we began operating our services to Christchurch, we have been dedicated to providing our customers with a real choice for affordable and competitive travel across the Tasman," Mr May said.

Jetstar is the largest carrier, based on capacity, operating on the trans-Tasman route from Christchurch. Jetstar operates minimum daily return trans Tasman flights directly between Christchurch and Sydney (10 times weekly), Melbourne (9 times weekly), daily to Brisbane (7 times weekly) and a twice-weekly return service to the Gold Coast.

"Jetstar's competitive online fare pricing guarantee is just the latest example of our commitment to providing more affordable choices for New Zealanders to fly," Mr May said.

Customers who believe they have sourced a lower web fare must contact Jetstar Reservations on 1300 369 516 and if the airline can verify the availability of the lower fare, when customers buy the Jetstar fare, the airline will double the difference in Jetstar vouchers.

Jetstar's Double the Difference Voucher Guarantee also applies to domestic Australian and long-haul international flights (except Jetstar international services to Japan).

As well as international flights to four Australian destinations, Jetstar now offers long haul flights to popular international destinations throughout Asia and the Pacific, including Hawaii (Honolulu), Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), Japan (Osaka and Nagoya), Indonesia (Bali) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), with its newest service from 9 September 2007.
