Cervena™ Features at International Chefs Congress, NYC September 17 & 18 2007
Wellington—New Zealand’s own Cervena natural tender venison was on show at the International Chefs Congress in New York City this week.
The International Chefs Congress run by www.starchefs.com, the online magazine for culinary insiders, is a three day culinary symposium which drew around 1,000 chefs from around the world. It is considered by many to be the most important professional culinary event in the US.
Cervena was one of the sponsors at this gathering of independent chefs from across the globe. The event was held at the new World Trade Centre building in New York City, where some of the world’s most influential and innovative chefs presented their latest techniques and culinary concepts.
Cervena took a high level involvement at the Congress, featuring on the menu at the opening night cocktail party, and was later served as a main at a prize giving dinner recognising the rising stars of the New York culinary scene. Cervena also had its own booth at the products fair where over 700 chefs sampled a dish prepared by award winning chef Steven Maninno.
DINZ CEO Mark O’Connor said “Cervena is one of New Zealand’s premium food exports, The ICC is a top gathering of influential chefs from across the USA and around the world so it is important for the New Zealand deer industry to present our products to this audience. We have been very pleased with the response to Cervena among the visiting chefs.”
Cervena is premium farmed venison, grown naturally in New Zealand to strict quality standards which ensure a consistently tender product each time. It is marketed by five companies who are licensed to use the name on their own venison brands.
