Rob Waddell officially opens Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill

Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill was officially opened today by talented athlete Rob Waddell.

Rob, a world champion rower, Olympic Gold Medalist and member of the Emirates Team New Zealand America's Cup team, joined the Bunnings team to celebrate the launch of the new store, one of the largest in the region.

The new Bunnings Warehouse, located at 2 Carr Rd, employs around 130 team members and features over 11,000 square metres of trading space, including the main warehouse area, garden centre, trade area, and parking.

The needs of home DIY customers and the local trade market will be well catered for, with Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill offering around 45,000 product lines in store.

Brad Cranston, Bunnings New Zealand general manager, says the official opening marks the start of a number of celebratory events over the coming weeks.

"We're very excited to be opening a Bunnings Warehouse in Mt Roskill as it will provide more Aucklanders with easy access to our great range of DIY products.

"We have a series of fun events planned to mark the opening and would like to invite the public to come along and celebrate with us," says Brad.

Members of the public are invited to attend the opening celebrations, which commence on Friday 28 September, from 3.00pm, with a fire works display commencing at 7.30pm. There will also be a live band in store as well as loads of other entertainment.

The free family fun and entertainment will continue throughout the weekend at the store with More FM on-site, and a bouncy castle, face painters and clowns to entertain the kids.

Mr Cranston hopes Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill will become a key retail operation in the Central Auckland region.

"We believe our widest range, best service and lowest prices every day strategy ensures we have a unique offer in the home improvement sector," says Brad.

Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill includes innovations such as a hire shop, ladies DIY nights and free 'how-to' workshops held every weekend for experts, novices and even the kids.

Bunnings Warehouse Mt Roskill will be the 14th warehouse format store to open in New Zealand, and further warehouses are underway in Christchurch, Wellington and Nelson.
