Smart innovation to meet MOH guidelines

food brand, Cookie Time, has responded to the Ministry of
Health food and beverage criteria for schools with a new
product offering.
This week Cookie Time Smart Cookies have been launched to meet the Ministry of Health Food and Beverage Classification system for schools and early childhood services.
The 30g Smart Cookies have the Heart Foundation Tick of Approval and also meets new Ministry of Health ‘sometimes’ classification for schools.
Smart Cookies are designed to provide a healthier alternative. They are a source of Omega-3, contain no artificial colours or preservatives, and are lower in saturated fat & salt than the 'non-Heart Tick' alternatives.
"The new Ministry of Health schools criteria is even more strict than the Heart Foundation Tick criteria, so from a recipe development point of view this is quite an achievement” says Cookie Time General Manager, Lincoln Booth.
“Striking the balance between the healthier attributes and the taste is what we're particularly proud of. Smart Cookies look and taste like a treat, while at the same time being a healthier option".
Mr Booth says that while Cookie Time are pleased to provide additional choice, ultimately it comes back to commonsense and balance - encouraging healthy lifestyles and attitudes – smart choices rather than regulation.
