Lotto Lady Foretells Temuka $100,000 Win
Lucky Message From Lotto Lady Foretells Temuka $100,000 Win
A good natured good luck message from his local Lotto lady to a regular Temuka customer has proven that wishes can come true when the local found his Instant Kiwi $5 Vault ticket was indeed a $100,000 winner, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive Todd McLeay.
The Temuka local bought a $5 Vault Instant Kiwi ticket from Temuka Take Note in Temuka and was served by Lotto lady Jan.
"I was buying my ticket and Jan jokingly said to me, 'By the way, there's a winning $100,000 ticket there, I've saved it just for you', says the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous.
"Sure enough, I got home and scratched the ticket and saw that I had a match of numbers and underneath it, the prize amount said $100,000," adds the winner.
Jan wasn't working on Tuesday when the winner was going to Take Note to claim his prize, but as luck would have it, the winner saw her on the street and told her his good fortune.
"I couldn't believe it when I bumped into him and he told me he HAD won the $100,000," says Jan.
"He showed me the ticket and I was so excited that even though it was my day off, I asked him if I could go with him to get the ticket checked," says Jan.
The winner is delighted with his win and has already bought a boat with the winnings in preparation for some summer fishing trips.
Jan has no plans to exchange her Lotto job for a crystal ball as she says being part of Lotto means she's already part of making people's dreams come true.
There's been a good run of luck for Temuka lately with another local set to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel at the end of this month. The local woman bought her ticket in Timaru New World and is set to travel to Wellington with her family to spin the Winning Wheel on 27 October.
Every Lotto ticket bought is eligible for the Winning Wheel draw and spinning the Winning Wheel gives players the chance to win a variety of prizes from $100,000 to $1 million.
