New role reflects commitment to ongoing growth

NEWS RELEASE

New Auckland role reflects commitment to ongoing growth

Harcourts New Zealand has recently employed Stephen Johnson into the newly created role as Franchise Development Manager / Group Auctioneer with a focus on further growing its presence in the crucial Auckland market.

While Harcourts is New Zealand’s largest real estate group, with more than 185 offices nationwide including over 40 in the Auckland region, CEO Bryan Thomson believes there is plenty of room for growth to further build Harcourts’ marketshare in Auckland. “With such a dominant share of the national population residing within this region, further success and growth in Auckland are crucial to the ongoing success of our group.”

To help achieve this Mr Johnson’s key focus is on recruiting new sales consultants and assisting with opening new offices in the Auckland region. His secondary focus is to call auctions and to provide auction training/support for Harcourts’ Auckland offices.

Aged just 24, Mr Johnson is new to Harcourts but not to the real estate industry which he joined as a cadet fresh out of school at 18. Recognised as an ‘up-and comer’, he soon moved into sales, then auctioneering and management, moving from Wellington to Taupo prior to joining Harcourts in Auckland recently. “When I left school I saw real estate as an opportunity to work hard and really be rewarded,” he said.

Mr Johnson, who called over 100 auctions last year, won the Auctioneer of the Year title in 2004 and at the REINZ championships was awarded the Colin Brown Memorial Trophy for Auctioneer with the most potential.

Looking to further build on his career options, Mr Johnson said joining Harcourts’ corporate team means being part of the largest real estate group in New Zealand and having a huge opportunity through access to the leading systems of a fast moving and very progressive industry leader.

CEO of Harcourts New Zealand, Bryan Thomson said, “We are pro-actively recruiting talent at all levels so being able to secure one of the rising stars of our industry for this critical development role is something we are very proud of. The availability of Stephen Johnson’s specialist auction skills to our Business Owners, their teams and clients also demonstrates our commitment to overall industry excellence.”
