NZ Grown Label Targets Fresh Produce

NZ Grown Label Targets Fresh Produce

Home grown fruit and vegetables will be easier to spot thanks to a new country of origin label.

The Buy NZ Made campaign has launched the ‘NZ Grown’ logo so growers and producers can use the kiwi-in-the-triangle logo on their fresh produce.

The Kiwi logo is the most widely used and recognised country of origin label in New Zealand. Research recently conducted by Research International on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development identified that eight out of ten consumers recognise the logo, as do nine out of ten manufacturers.

The kiwi-in-the-triangle is a registered trade mark owned by Business NZ. To find out how to qualify to use this trade mark, visit www.buynzmade.org.nz

The launch coincides with the Government’s Buy Kiwi Made media campaign to promote awareness of New Zealand made products. More information on Buy Kiwi Made initiatives can be found on www.buykiwimade.govt.nz

Buy New Zealand Made director Marcia Dunnett says the time has never been better to help consumers identify home grown produce.

“We encourage producers to consider using the logo on fresh produce as soon as possible.”
