Air New Zealand Celebrates Summer with Award-Winning Wines

Air New Zealand is to celebrate the best of Kiwi summer by introducing free award-winning wines on its flights between Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The promotion will run throughout summer and feature a wide range of wines recognised as New Zealand’s finest at the 2007 Air New Zealand Wine Awards.

“New Zealand wines are recognised as some of the finest in the world, and we are proud to be able to share the very best of them with our customers,” said Bruce Parton, Group General Manager, Short Haul Airlines. “We want our customers to experience something quintessentially New Zealand on Air New Zealand flights and a great way to do that is to celebrate the best that New Zealand’s summer has to offer.”

The celebration will kick off on Thursday 29 November with special in-flight wine tasting events on selected flights between Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The wine tasting, which will give customers the opportunity to sample three Gold Medal winning wines with Kapiti cheeses, will also take place on selected flights on Friday 30 November, along with Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 December

From Wednesday 5 December customers will be offered free medal-winning wines along with the usual coffee, tea and water on flights between Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch between 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Each week will feature a different set of wines, selected from two white wines and one red wine. The first week will feature Kawarau Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2006, Brightwater Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2007 and Stoneleigh Marlborough Merlot 2006. The subsequent wines have been carefully selected from the range of medal-winning wines and include one trophy winner, the highest award available in each category at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
