Top 100 Success Again For Babich Wines

The prestigious American wine magazine ‘Wine Spectator’ (November 2007 Issue) features the Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006 in the Top 100 Wines of the World. The wine was awarded 90 points and is ranked 73rd on the list. This is the 2nd year in a row that this wine has featured in the Top 100.

Each year, Wine Spectator editors survey the wines they have reviewed over the past 12 months and select the most exciting for their Top 100. In 2007, they reviewed more than 15,000 wines from around the world in blind tastings. They narrowed the list down based on four criteria: quality (represented by score); value (reflected by release price); availability (measured by case production or cases imported); and an X-factor they call excitement.

International success for Babich is not just limited to the USA. Another prestigious wine magazine from the UK – Decanter, listed the Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006 as the Wine of the Month - Best Value White in the December issue.

The 2006 vintage has now sold out in most stores around the world, but the 2007 vintage looks like it will be another stand out. New Zealand wine writer Sam Kim (Wine Orbit, August issue) awarded the wine 5 stars and 94 points and had the following to say about the latest release:

"They’ve hit a 6 with this wine. Full on passion fruit and feijoas with a succulent palate loaded with ripe fruit flavours. The zesty acid adds real life to the wine and lengthens the finish. It’s gorgeous: pure and absolutely delicious. At its best: now to 2008 - SMART BUY.”
