Transformers among the hot items for Xmas 07
Sunday 9 December 2007
For Immediate Release
iPods, part-time work & transformers among the hot items for Xmas 07
Ipods, Playboy fashion items and Billabong clothing
are the three most searched for items on Trade Me, as New
Zealanders head into the seasonal buying frenzy.
Other strong themes include people searching for baches, a thirst for part-time summer work and a demand for wedding dresses as brides-to-be prepare for a summer wedding.
Two cars made the top 10 search list – the recently launched new Holden Ute and the renesis engined Maxda RX8.
Rounding out the list were Transformer toys (enjoying a resurge in the wake of the recently released movie) and tents as people head for the motor camps.
Interestingly, David Beckham’s half eaten corn cob did not make the top 10.
“While we’ve got increasingly cosmopolitan in our tastes, it’s interesting to see a distinctly Kiwi bias to buying patterns with baches, tents and utes all showing strong performance,” said Mike O’Donnell, Trade Me’s head of commercial.
The full list of the top 10 consumer search
items for the first week of December 2007 is listed below.
The latest Nielsen / NetRatings figures show Trade Me had
over 3.5 million unique visitors in November
2007.
