Keen Competition Expected In Dairy Awards
Organisers of the 2008 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards (NZDIA) are delighted to have accepted more than 330 entries across the three tiers: Dairy Trainee, Farm Manager and Sharemilker.
When entries officially closed today there was an even spread between the levels which mark progression through the dairy industry and ultimately, for some, the achievement of their goal of farm ownership.
“Anyone following the news knows the dairy industry offers a golden opportunity for people with the right attitude and commitment to succeed,” says DIA management committee chairman Greg Maughan.
“But it is a highly competitive environment and people need to do everything they can to learn new skills, be noticed, make their mark and be appreciated for their ability. They need to practically demonstrate their prowess to stand out from the herd.”
Entrants in 12 regions will now go on for regional judging. Winners in each region will go on to compete for a national title at each level at a gala event in Christchurch in May.
The awards are supported by Westpac, Dairy NZ, Fonterra, RD1, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, and Blue Wing Honda, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.
