Globally And Locally Volvo Had A Successful 2007

Globally and locally Volvo had a successful 2007

Volvo has had a successful year increasing sales worldwide by 7.1 percent to 458,323 vehicles in 2007.

Sales were up in most of the Swedish marque's major markets, including Sweden Russia, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium and France.

In New Zealand sales expanded 25.5 percent to 256 cars, compared to 2006.

Across the Tasman it was a similar story with sales rising to 4852, a 21.3 percent increase.

Volvo's top selling model globally was the XC90 SUV with 79,140 sales, followed by the V70 with just over 69,000 registrations.

The new C30 hatch contributed 46,726 sales in an area of the market which Volvo has not previously been in.

Closer to home the story was similar with the XC90 being the most popular local seller, followed by the V50 wagon.

Prospects for 2008 are encouraging for further sales growth. "The new V70 and XC70 will make a greater impact this year after being launched at the end of last year," said Mark Patterson, the General Manager of Volvo Cars.

"And the C30, S80 and C70 are available in a wider range of models which should attract more buyers."
