Jade Software wins big name account

JADE SOFTWARE CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE

22 January 2008

Jade Software wins big name account - The Warehouse

Jade Software Corporation (Jade) today announced the successful completion of a major project to re-platform and modernise the core Enterprise Resource Planning system of The Warehouse, New Zealand’s largest retailer.
On 3 September 2007, The Warehouse brought on line its new JADE system and Wintel platform, after switching off its legacy system, arguably the most mission critical of all its systems.

Owen McCall, CIO of The Warehouse said, “We’ve replatformed our legacy system with JADE, and the savings realised will amount to millions of dollars each year. We were satisfied that not only was this a low risk and cost effective transition, but the JADE platform is open, interoperable, scalable and robust.

“The Warehouse can now use JADE for processing and to leverage our existing investment in relational databases for business intelligence and reporting, and preserve all our business rules and processes with minimal need for staff training. Jade supports future development in a number of technologies including JADE, Java and .NET,” Mr McCall said

Three months after ‘Go Live’ the system is processing a higher daily volume of data transactions than originally expected, and manages a database of over 80 million inventory items.

“The new system can be accessed from any of our stores and distribution centres, and by any one of over 2,000 staff. We have been impressed with the JADE technology and the ability of the Jade people to deliver and respond to our needs.”

Dr. Rod Carr, Jade’s Managing Director, said that the ten month project had been delivered on time and within budget.

The Warehouse joins a number of major New Zealand enterprises which have signed or renewed contracts with Jade Software Corporation Limited for mission critical IT services in the past year including Fonterra, Air New Zealand, ASB Bank, The Electricity Commission and Toll New Zealand.

“It is now apparent that leading New Zealand enterprises have the confidence to make rational assessments of technologies that meet their business needs and not be captured by the monolithic architectures promoted by the multinational brands in the late ‘90s.

“The JADE platform has provided the interoperability that allows the integration of information from a range of technologies eliminating the need for adoption of a single costly, inflexible ‘architecture’ which often meant limiting the range of solutions to those offered within a particular programming language or database.

“JADE developers armed with web services, Java APIs and C# interfaces have the ability to respond rapidly to the changing needs of our customers by solving complex problems involving complex and changing relationships. There is a new era and increasingly JADE is recognised as an important component of a collaborative technology solution,”
Dr. Carr said.
