French Farm has X-factor sure to attract interest
5 February 2008: The picturesque and hugely popular French Farm Winery, Restaurant and Function Centre near Akaroa has the X-factor expected to attract significant interest from around New Zealand and overseas.
Being marketed by Bruce Page of Harcourts Grenadier City office, the property features a stunning architecturally-designed Tuscan-style building which contains a fully fitted out winery and an atmospheric restaurant with a state-of-the-art kitchen, complimented by a successful pizzeria built into the hillside alongside – all set on a beautifully landscaped 1.45ha site.
“For sale as a going concern with significant advance bookings for weddings, conferences and other special occasions along with a team of experienced and skilled staff and the availability of a full management option, French Farm is an outstanding commercial opportunity with a definite x-factor,” Mr Page says.
Established in 1990, French Farm’s distinctive French-provincial style restaurant and idyllic surroundings have helped it earn an enviable reputation locally and from visitors from further afield both for special occasions and for more casual dining.
The indoor restaurant, which can seat up to 120 diners inside, is warmed by a roaring fire in the winter months and in the summer diners can enjoy its beautiful outdoor dining area as well. Meanwhile La Pizzeria, built into the hillside alongside and designed to complement the a la Carte restaurant, offers an open-air casual dining for those who want a less formal meal, Mr Page says.
There is also a space upstairs for meetings or small conferences, or alternatively for converting into a small apartment, with the possibility of developing other accommodation elsewhere on the site, he says.
“Add in its own wine label, sea views, beautiful well-maintained gardens, a petanque court and sweeping lawns with a helicopter pad and French Farm is a unique opportunity we expect will attract considerable interest.
The current owners have built the business up to a high standard and are only moving on because they are ready for semi-retirement. They are offering the property and business, which is situated on French Farm Valley Road just an hour from Christchurch and close to popular Akaroa, for sale for $2.2 million plus GST (if any).
