Dual consumer campaigns
Buy NZ Made and Buy Kiwi Made are proving to be a powerful
combination for New Zealand made goods.
The privately owned Buy NZ Made campaign signed up gas fire place manufacturer Rinnai New Zealand as its 1000th member to use the kiwi-in-a-triangle logo this week. Now it’s gearing up for more growth following the Government’s announcement to extend its own Buy Kiwi Made media campaign.
Buy NZ Made campaign director Samantha Seath is pleased a further $2 million will now be spent to continue the Buy Kiwi advertising for another year.
Membership to Buy NZ Made has leapt from 625 since Buy Kiwi Made was launched in 2007. Seath says half that growth has come from manufacturers.
“The success re-emphasises to manufacturers and retailers that New Zealanders want to buy NZ made.”
The campaign launched two new logos last year – a bilingual logo and a ‘Grown in NZ’ logo and is due to launch an online shopping mall in June, offering all NZ product manufacturers the opportunity to have a web presence and sell online.
Owned by Business NZ, Buy NZ Made has been promoting NZ-manufactured products and services with its Kiwi-in-the-triangle logo for 20 years.
The Buy Kiwi Made media campaign has been complementary, reinforcing to consumers the benefits of financially supporting their country through buying locally made goods and services.
More than 1.3 million shoppers are now thinking ‘Kiwi made’when they shop, an increase of more than 200,000 since August.
