Recruiters to gain survival skills for a ‘new era’ at RCSA Symposium
New Zealand recruiters are set to combat increasing global workforce pressures, such as shrinking talent pools and an ageing and highly mobile workforce, at a workplace planning Symposium coming to Auckland on Tuesday 4 March.
The RCSA’s (Recruitment and Consulting Services Association) 2008 Industry Symposium, titled: Performance: Workforce Planning in the New World will give attendees the tools to drive business performance using new technology and prepare for the changing workforce landscape.
CEO of the RCSA, Ms Julie Mills, said employers hooked on traditional business models will need to rethink their strategy for business success in the future to attract quality talent and retain their own star performers.
“With the advent of social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, virtual worlds such as SecondLife and the classic ‘video resume’ popping up on platforms such as YouTube, keeping up with innovation has never been more important for the future of recruitment,” Ms Mills said.
“What we’re seeing is the majority of recruiters keen to take advantage of this ‘untapped’ candidate market, with some already leading the way,” she said.
Ms Mills said employers will need to put systems in place to accommodate for innovations in recruitment strategy. future business planning should also consider the needs of their own rapidly changing workforce.
“With Baby Boomers heading for retirement, and Gen- Ys on the look out for ‘career’ and flexible working conditions, employers will need to ‘get real’ about the strategies in place to attract and retain their own workforces.
“It is therefore fitting that this year’s Symposium focuses on adding innovative strategies to recruiters’ toolkits, as well as focusing on ways to foster new work cultures, processes and performance management systems,” she said.
The Symposium will provide delegates with first-hand insight from prominent New Zealand thought-leaders, including: New Zealand Young Executive of the Year, Sue Lindsay; columnist and expert on innovative thinking, Mike Hutcheson and Journalist, Linda Clarke as MC.
