AA negotiations not over yet - EPMU
Contrary to the Automobile Association’s statements to media today, negotiations between the organisation and the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union are not over.
Terms of Settlement have been reached but these are still subject to democratic ratification. The details of the settlement can not be released as they are yet to be seen by the workers who will be affected by them and no vote has been made on the settlement.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little says the final decision remains in the hands of union members.
“We are a democratic organisation, which means that throughout the process EPMU members at the AA have voted on claims and on industrial action. It is up to them whether they accept the AA’s offer.
“There are some gains including moves towards pay parity in the document that members and officials on the negotiating team believe are a step in the right direction but we won’t know if this deal is acceptable to our members until the national vote is completed, and that could take two to three weeks.”
If union members reject the settlement they will then vote to decide their next move.
