AT&T Adds New Account Executive
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, March 10, 2008 — AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced the appointment of Kelvin Sargeant as global account executive to its sales team in Auckland.
Roger Payne, AT&T New Zealand general manager, said: “We take a great deal of pride in the fact that we have always had the best talent in the industry. Kelvin is widely experienced in the sales, technical and commercial aspects of the IT and telecommunications industries and will be of great benefit to our team and to our clients.”
Originally from England, Sargeant trained as an engineer. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1989 with his family and entered the IT industry, working initially for a large computer bureau in network management roles. Then he worked for network services companies and undertook account management roles for clients such as Firestone, Carter Holt Harvey and 3M.
In 1995, he moved to Wang, New Zealand, and subsequently Gen-i, and as a senior client manager developed strong commercial and sales skills through his work with key accounts, including the ASB Bank, TelstraClear and Simpson Grierson.
Most recently, he worked as an account director for TelstraClear Wholesale, where he was responsible for business development on a number of large accounts and built successful commercial relationships with key resellers in the IT and telecommunications sectors.
In his new role, he will concentrate on growing AT&T’s business in the New Zealand market and will service the local needs of multinational organisations that have headquarters outside New Zealand.
