New identity to boost Queenstown boutique
hotel
A change of name, owner, management and a facelift heralds a new era for a boutique hotel in Queenstown.
From 13 March, the intimate 14-room luxury hotel, formerly known as Mount Vista, will be relaunched as Central Ridge Boutique Hotel under the management of experienced hotelier Annabel Fafeita.
Central Ridge is in a tranquil, picturesque setting adjacent to Queenstown Gardens, only a three minute stroll from downtown Queenstown.
New owners, the Hyslop and Roy families, are born and bred South Islanders, as is Annabel. Her team of five are friendly Southern girls with excellent knowledge of the area.
Together their aim is to guarantee travellers a ‘home away from home’ with style, comfort, five-star service, an inviting atmosphere and genuine Southern hospitality.
A range of competitively priced accommodation suits different budgets – there are luxury rooms with balconies and views of Bob’s Peak, deluxe rooms with private patio and garden views, and cosy standard rooms. Every room is extra-spacious with lavish touches to enhance comfort and relaxation. A complimentary gourmet cooked breakfast is also included in most packages.
Upgrades to facilities include huge massaging shower heads in every bathroom, 26" LCD TVs with satellite, stylish bedding, new garden features and a freshly painted exterior.
Each room is ensuite, offering the ultimate bathing experience with a two-person extra deep, extra wide bath with contoured back and arm rests at both ends. Every bathroom has bubble bath and candles, luxurious fluffy bathrobes and under-floor heating.
Other hotel facilities include off-street carparking, in-room safes, jetstream internet, a sauna and ski drying room, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, bag and car storage and laundry facilities.
Hotel manager Annabel Fafeita is already familiar with Queenstown visitors and the accommodation sector, having previously worked at Mercure Resort, St Moritz and Aspen on Queenstown. Armed with a degree in hotel management and eight years of New Zealand and overseas experience, she believes that having worked in different types of accommodation – including 5-star hotels and a busy B&B – has given her great insight into guests’ needs.
“I feel privileged to host guests in Queenstown because it’s one of the most beautiful and exciting places in the world. People are blown away when they come here so by making them feel special at Central Ridge I hope we contribute to making their holiday even more memorable.
“I’ve handpicked the team for their local knowledge, service skills, absolute discretion, and sincere interest in making each guest’s visit a success. They’re skilled at conversing easily with guests, advising on and booking activities, assisting with special requirements and anticipating all possible needs.
“Being passionate about Central Otago, we’re keen to promote local businesses and products. We offer guests homemade jams and preserves and fresh salmon smoked onsite as part of their complimentary gourmet breakfast as well as featuring local brands and specialties where possible.
“Each evening I’ll host a ‘Happy Hour’ get-together in the communal lounge and patio area so guests can meet each other and exchange experiences while sampling Central Otago wine and complimentary canapés. In summer we’ll also organise barbecues to give guests further opportunity to mingle if they wish,” says Annabel.
Ideal for independent travellers looking for rest and relaxation or the ultimate Queenstown adventure getaway, Central Ridge is a cosy ski retreat in winter and a relaxing haven during summer. The hotel is also suited to small conferences and meetings, executive retreats and product launches with beautifully appointed meeting and breakout rooms opening out to patios and gardens.
