Award-winning Waiheke vineyard for sale

Media Release

Award-winning Waiheke vineyard for sale

31 March 2008 – One of Waiheke’s best kept secrets, the award-winning Peacock Ridge Vineyard, is on the market with a price tag of $1.75 million.

The 8.5ha property, which is named after the wild peacocks that roam the land’s ridge, is currently producing more than 12,000 bottles of award-winning Bordeaux-style red wine off the existing 3.5ha vineyard, which could easily be expanded.

The gently rolling, partially bush-clad property also offers plenty of room for expanding the existing residential / business premise onsite and the potential for a variety of developments on another building site that has already been prepared.

Being marketed by Louise Roke and Ron Hopewell of Harcourts Waiheke, this unique property located just 5km from popular Onetangi Beach and about 15 minutes from Matiatia Wharf has an asking price of $1.75 million.

“Peacock Ridge Vineyard offers great value for money,” says Ms Roke. “It’s a little piece of paradise that investors or owner operators can enjoy and profit from as is, or the future owners could improve the property further by building luxury accommodation, extending the vineyard and/or establishing a restaurant or function centre.

“There’s already one building on site which encompasses a sunny two bedroom home along with a barrel room and office, and just 300m away is another site offering stunning views of Onetangi Beach and beyond.”

Planted in 1999, Peacock Ridge Vineyard produced its first vintage in 2002, and won Silver at the Air New Zealand Wine awards with their first wine, produced by a local winemaker. Since then the vineyard has also won Wine of the Week at the Waiheke Wine Festival.

Ms Roke explains the current owners, who have now achieved their dream of setting up and running a vineyard, are now looking to hand over the mantle and prepare for retirement – hence they are offering Peacock Ridge Vineyard for sale.
