NetSafe Launches Computer Security Campaign

On April 9, at the Transmission room in Auckland – NetSafe will launch its home computer security campaign – the NetBasics.

Home computer security is becoming increasingly important in New Zealand. More and more homes are connecting to the internet at greater speeds. New Zealanders are increasingly undertaking trading, banking, and sensitive information exchange online.

Criminals have spotted the opportunity and we must be increasingly vigilant in order to protect ourselves. We’re constantly hearing about the new menaces of botnets, drive by downloads, and embedded malware - but how do we avoid falling victim to them? We can take a series of precautions that NetSafe calls the NetBasics

Described in its most simple terms - the NetBasics is a home PC security advisory website featuring a series of short animated stories introducing the elements and concepts of PC security.

But as you can see from the attached trailer - it is so much more.

Beautiful graphics including incredible 3D animation combined with quirky characters and clever scripting has produced something quite unique and compelling in the field of computer security.

And that’s why I’d like to see you there. NetSafe is very proud to unveil the NetBasics and we have crafted a launch event in keeping with the style of the campaign.
