New NZX website launched

26 May 2008 - NZX has today launched the re-designed www.nzx.com. The new site provides a complete offering of NZX sharemarket data, listed company announcements, advanced charting and interactive portfolio tools alongside business news and commentary.

To provide this platform for New Zealand investors, NZX has partnered with Fairfax Digital. The partnership combines NZX's expertise in market data and information with Fairfax's strength in the digital delivery of news content. As well as market data and news content offerings, interactive tools and charting tools were developed for the NZX site.

News content available on the NZX website will focus on developments in the capital markets, managed fund sectors and the wider economy, allowing investors to gain a comprehensive picture of the local and global business environment. NZX Market announcements, and breaking news involving listed companies and the wider market, will be linked to share pricing and indices data on the site.

The FundSource KiwiSaver Ratings facility adds another dimension to the NZX site, making research on Kiwisaver product providers easily accessible for investors. People are becoming increasingly interested in the performance of managed funds, a trend expected to continue as the pool of KiwiSaver funds under management grows in New Zealand.

On the new NZX site, anyone can register for free to the My NZX service which offers a personalised portfolio tool for selecting and monitoring the value of any NZX listed shares. A watchlist tool is also available to keep an eye on those shares people may be thinking about investing in. Those ready to buy or sell shares can use the "Locate a broker" tool to find an NZX Advisor in their area.

NZX Head of Communications Rowan Macrae said, "The new www.nzx.com is more than a typical stock exchange website. The site was developed with a goal of encouraging a greater level of interest, engagement and activity in the New Zealand market. Investors can now access market data, world-class interactive tools and the latest business and economic news in one place.

"People in much greater numbers are turning their attention to the performance of the sharemarket and managed funds since the introduction of KiwiSaver last year. Our new site will improve the depth and accessibility of market and managed fund information for investors, which is a great outcome for the market."

Final refinements and the phase-in of additional features of the new NZX website will continue over the next few months. Additional new features, including making PDF market announcements available on the NZX website, are currently in development and will be launched in the next six weeks. Over the long term NZX will retain a strong focus on the development of online channels to deliver value to NZX Customers, New Zealand investors and Kiwisavers.
