Beans, spaghetti and toast partner up for June

MEDIA RELEASE

28 May, 2008

Kiwi favourites beans, spaghetti and toast partner up for June

A single 420g can of Wattie’s® Baked Beans contains 398 individual beans on average
One 420g can of Wattie’s Spaghetti holds an average of 15 metres of pasta!

New Zealanders will eat more than 27 million individual baked beans, 13 million metres of spaghetti and 15 million slices of Nature’s Fresh® white and multigrain toast bread during June.  Making it even easier to enjoy these Kiwi favourites, Wattie’s and Nature’s Fresh have created two limited edition partnerships of their top four products for the darkest winter month.

The partnerships see the combination of Wattie’s Spaghetti with Nature’s Fresh White Toast and Wattie’s Baked BeaNZ™ with Nature’s Fresh Multigrain Toast. This will potentially see more than 15 million slices of toast bread topped with Wattie’s baked beans and spaghetti. But it’s not all spaghetti and beans on toast.

Recipes highlighting the combinations as snacks or light meals are sure to be family favourites. Try Mince and Bean Savouries or Spaghetti Faces for a weekend lunch, light dinner or lunch box filler.

Nature’s Fresh Multigrain Toast and Wattie’s Baked BeaNZ create a partnership of long lasting energy combining the goodness of whole grains in the bread and the benefits of protein and fibre in the beans.

Nature’s Fresh White Toast and Wattie’s Spaghetti make a fun partnership where the kids can help in the kitchen, creating a spaghetti face as happy, grumpy or creative as they like. And, from June 16 to July 6 anyone who enters their own spaghetti face creation online at www.foodinaminute.co.nz is in to win one of two $250 shopping vouchers.
