New Zealand Luxury Lodge Wins Travel ‘Oscar’

World Travel Awards today (Tuesday 10 June) announced that Queenstown’s multi-award winning Blanket Bay has been voted New Zealand's Leading Luxury Resort 2008.

The announcement is the result of one of the world’s most comprehensive travel trade polls. From the Seychelles to Scotland, Brazil to the Bahamas, travel professionals from across the globe have voted for their top picks.

Blanket Bay General Manager Philip Jenkins says he is delighted to see the lodge recognised by the industry as a leader in its field.

“The World Travel Awards are considered ‘the Oscars’ of the industry so it’s a real honour to win this award. This award reaffirms our ability and commitment to provide for the most discerning traveller by delivering the highest possible standards of accommodation and hospitality service.

“We’ve strived to set a new standard at Blanket Bay. We offer a haven of comfort in a stunning setting within close proximity of Queenstown, the Southern Hemisphere’s premier four season alpine and lake resort.”

The World Travel Award is the latest in a string of awards for Blanket Bay, which was last year placed in the top 20 International Hideaways in Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report, named one of the world’s best hotels for cuisine in the prestigious 2007 Conde Nast Traveller Gold List and selected by Discovery Channel as the world’s best lodge.
