Strong speaker line-up for Tourism Industry Conference

An inspiring and thought-provoking line-up of speakers is planned for the Tourism Industry Conference, 4-5 August 2008 at the Christchurch Convention Centre.

The theme is ‘Bringing New Zealand to the world, and bringing the world to New Zealand’.

Tourism Industry Association (TIA) Acting Chief Executive Oscar Nathan says the conference is recognised as the most important annual forum by the key players in New Zealand's tourism industry.

“This year’s Tourism Industry Conference is going to be a very special event, one that’s vital for tourism businesses.

“With New Zealand’s unparalleled 100% PURE brand positioning and key events like Rugby World Cup 2011 lined up to put New Zealand in the world media spotlight, it is New Zealand tourism’s job make sure we are capitalising on these opportunities and bringing more visitors to our shores,” Mr Nathan says.

“This year’s programme includes national and international experts who will provide industry operators with a snapshot view of tourism today.


“We’ve got a great line up of speakers including business columnist Rod Oram, Westpac Chief Economist Brendan O’Donovan, Rugby World Cup Chief Executive Martin Snedden, renowned Kiwi commentator John Tamihere and many more.”

Conference attendees will find out how the world economy will impact on the tourism industry, learn about the latest trends in world tourism, the future for sustainable business, how to maximise a tourism business’s online potential and much more. It’s also an opportunity to meet and talk with other tourism operators and share ideas.
