High praise from Decanter Magazine

Media release 18 June 2008

Montana receives high praise from Decanter Magazine

Montana is proud to announce that Montana Terroir Series Rail Bridge Sauvignon Blanc 2007 has received a 'Wine of the Month' award in the July 2008 issue of Decanter Magazine. Only sixteen ‘Wines of the Month’ were chosen from wines around the world, of which, only one was from New Zealand.

Decanter magazine is the leading wine magazine for both consumer and wine trade users across UK, North America, Far East, Europe and Australasia and a wine recommendation of this calibre is a highly considered viewpoint from some of the foremost wine professionals in the world. It must also be remembered that the UK is effectively the wine world’s shop window and that any wine selected for this award has beaten off the stiffest competition.

The Decanter review comments on Montana Terroir Series Rail Bridge Sauvignon Blanc 2007; “This range is designed to reflect the effect of Marlborough's terroir on the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The Awatere Valley fruit has produced a poised, focussed wine. It's tight, linear, limey and mineral, with zest and freshness."

All Decanter wine tastings are blind with tasting panels selected to create a balance between specialists, expert objective tasters, MWs and experienced wine journalists. Decanter magazine tastes over 12,000 wines per year with their tastings being EU recognised and some of the most rigorous in the world.

"To get this recognition for our Montana Terroir Series Rail Bridge Sauvignon Blanc 2007 is a fabulous result. It cements our belief that the plantings we have in Marlborough's Awatere Valley produce truly expressive wines with freshness and vibrancy. Although classically Marlborough in character, they express a style of their own" says Patrick Materman, Montana’s winemaker.

Decanter magazine attracts the most affluent audience with readers being cosmopolitan, with a genuine passion for fine wine and has a monthly circulation of more than 40,000.

Montana Terroir Series Rail Bridge Sauvignon Blanc is available from selected fine wine outlets and fine dining establishments. New Zealand recommended retail price is $24.95.
