Pre-Eminent Wine Event Leads Way

Media Release Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Pre-Eminent Wine Event Leads Way In Recognising Innovation In Wine Industry

The continued success of the New Zealand Wine industry depends on its ability to innovate and consistently produce quality wines. In recognition of this, dmg world media launched an additional feature to the Wine New Zealand 2008 event called the Innovation in Wine Series.

Innovation in Wine complements the traditional tasting forum. It includes the Corbans Viticulture Wine New Zealand Seminars, The Buyers’ Choice Awards and the inaugural Esvin Innovation in Wine Awards.

The Innovation in Wine awards programme will recognise people and the pivotal role that innovation and relationships play in the future of the wine and hospitality industries. This sets it apart from traditional wine awards which focus on the finished product- the wine. Awards will be presented across two categories:

Innovation in Winemaking (Craft) Innovation in Wine Marketing (Brands) The Innovation in Winemaking Award recognises craft & innovation in creating the product, while the Innovation in Wine Marketing Award recognises creativity & promotion.

Entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry professionals, chaired by respected wine writer Vic Williams. All entries will be submitted by the wineries themselves and are limited to wineries exhibiting at the 2008 event. Winners across each category will be selected from the written entries.

Winners will be announced and trophies presented on the opening day of Wine New Zealand- Sunday August 31st 2008.
