Sealegs Appoints International Business Development Manager
AUCKLAND, Thursday 17 July 2008: Sealegs International Limited has appointed Paul Simmonds to the position of International Business Development Manager. The new position is in response to increasing interest offshore in the revolutionary Sealegs amphibious technology.
Mr Simmonds has extensive experience in international markets, having worked as a Director at Investment New Zealand, a specialist division within New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, responsible for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and more recently, as a consultant to New Zealand manufacturers expanding into Middle East markets. He has also worked in the New Zealand financial services markets.
A long time resident of Canada, Mr Simmonds has also held senior marketing positions and has a background in emergency services. A current member of the executive committee of the New Zealand-Middle East Business Council, he retains his extensive networks and contacts in a number of international markets.
As part of his new role, Mr Simmonds will be responsible for developing international business for Sealegs’ emergency response division and its newly unveiled range of aluminium amphibious boats, purpose-built to meet demand from international rescue and emergency services.
CEO David McKee Wright says he is delighted to attract someone of Mr Simmonds’ calibre to the company. “Paul’s experience across all facets of business and his deep knowledge of the US market makes him an ideal candidate for the role. His significant experience in growing global companies will also make him a key contributor to our success."
Mr Simmonds says he is pleased to be joining Sealegs “at such an exciting time in the development of its international market, particularly North America and I look forward to building on the excellent results achieved by the company, to date.”
