George FM Future Proofed
Major changes to the operations and management of Auckland radio station George FM have been announced by UMA Broadcasting CEO Willie Jackson.
As a major shareholder in the radio station, UMA Broadcasting seeks to improve both the stations financial and on-air performance. Mr. Jackson is confident the new improvements will both excite and deliver a high standard of radio to both listener and client.
Effective immediately Mike Hinton has been appointed Station Manager and will over-see the day to day operation of the station. Mike comes to George from popular Maori broadcaster Radio Waatea and brings a wealth of broadcast management and experience, including being a director of George FM for the past 7 years.
Jef Kay embraces the position of Business Development Manager while continuing his role as an active shareholder in the joint venture company with UMA Broadcasting.
Mr. Jackson is also pleased to announce a programming shake-up with the return of founder Thane Kirby heading the creative strategy of George as the station's new Brand Manager.
Thane is joined by his brother Richard Kirby as a fellow shareholder and contributor.
George FM prides itself with its music format and dedicated presenters arriving with a catalogue of favourite tracks and total control over the music they play; the result is an incredible library of over 1,000,000 tunes. From it's humble beginnings as a pirate radio station in Grey Lynn in 1998 to the station it's evolved into now, Listeners can expect to hear innovative new programming, a strong new creative presence and an active marketing alliance announced in the next few weeks.
