Harcourts Auctioneer Wins Honour Of Representing NZ

Harcourts Christchurch-based auctioneer Phil McGoldrick has proven again that he’s one of the best in country, with an outstanding performance at a recent national competition earning him the honour of representing New Zealand in a prestigious international competition later this year.

For the second year in a row Mr McGoldrick was recently named runner-up in the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) National Auction Competition, an achievement that will see him represent New Zealand for the third consecutive time in the annual Australasian Real Estate Institutes Auctioneering Championship, which this year is being held in Darwin in September.

Mr McGoldrick, who will represent his country alongside two-time New Zealand champion Mark Sumich, won the REINZ competition in 2006 ahead of Mr Sumich and went on to become the first New Zealander to ever reach the finals of the Australasian championship.

Averaging around 400 auctions a year Mr McGoldrick is also Harcourts National Auction Manager, a role which involves training and mentoring the group’s nationwide network of more than 40 auctioneers.

This year he was one of 32 auctioneers who competed in the national REINZ competition in Auckland recently along with 12 other Harcourts auctioneers including North Shore’s Andrew North, who also made the finals of the senior competition. Last year three of the four finalists in the senior competition were Harcourts auctioneers and in both 2007 and 2006 a Harcourts auctioneer won the novice competition.
