Rinnai Introduces the Aggressive Water Heat
Exchanger
Rinnai is pleased to announce the launch of the Aggressive Water Infinity continuous flow hot water unit, developed as an effective solution for the unique aggressive water that damages copper piping in Canterbury.
Canterbury is the largest region in the country that sources its water from artesian bores. This coupled with increased irrigation loads on the Canterbury plains has seen the incidence of damage from aggressive water increase.
Although harmless to humans and therefore rarely acknowledged by council or rate payers, the corrosive nature of aggressive water causes it to react with copper, affecting a range of domestic appliances, which have been affecting the plumbing industry for years.
The heat exchangers in all continuous flow water heaters to date are made of copper and can develop pinhole leaks from the aggressive water. This causes the units to leak and the safety systems to shut it down.
All continuous flow units (all manufacturers) are not covered by warranty for use under certain water conditions – such as aggressive water – as the products are not designed to withstand these conditions.
Sales and Marketing Manager for Rinnai New Zealand, Dave Waters comments, “As the only solution available, Rinnai’s new Aggressive Water Infinity has been specifically designed by Rinnai Japan to combat damage in areas where aggressive water is prevalent.”
“We are well aware that many of our existing clients have experienced problems with pinholing in the copper based Infinity models, and we will undertake servicing and repair of these units at a heavily subsidised price. Consumers can also at this time choose to upgrade their heat exchanger to a new Aggressive Water Heat Exchanger.”
“Available in three sizes: XR26, XR32 and XR26i, we highly recommended that new customers in the Canterbury region purchase Rinnai Aggressive Water Infinity units, as these are specifically designed for use in the Canterbury area and are covered by a new, more tolerant warranty”, comments Waters.
We are predicting growth for continuous flow water heaters nationwide due to the increased efficiency they offer. While many manufacturers will overlook the situation in Christchurch we felt that although isolated, it still warranted a long-term solution rather than a short-term one.
