Shotover Canyon Swing celebrates Tourism Awards win
After years of paying tribute to its heroes The Hoff, Denis Denuto, Oi the goat and Blind Phil, Shotover Canyon Swing has become a hero in its own right after winning the Adventure Activity sub-category in last night’s Tourism Industry Awards.
Shotover Canyon Swing General Manager Matt Hollyer said it was an honour to win the prestigious award, an achievement he attributed to staff commitment and industry support as well as the company’s overall culture of delivering a genuinely amazing Kiwi experience.
“Our team of 23 staff is committed to delivering the best experience in New Zealand.
It’s really hard work creating a top quality attraction but we’re 100% focused on delivering a fun and personalized experience to everyone who visits us.
“We rely on word of mouth and support from the industry. Our customers only keep turning up on our doorstep because they’ve heard from others that we give them a damn good time."
He said adventure tourism was a fantastic industry to be involved in but that it was important to stand out from the crowd in order to survive.
“Our combination of a giant swing experience and a spectacular natural setting make this a truly unique activity. We have fun with our heroes (including giant albatross but that’s another story) and have previously looked up to those who have won this award in the past. We try to do things a bit differently and our customers love it."
