Hotel named Best of the Best finalist

Press release from Crowne Plaza Queenstown

Monday 11 August 2008

Leading resort hotel named Best of the Best finalist

A popular Queenstown lakefront hotel has been singled out as a top performer in a new awards scheme evaluating establishments in New Zealand and Australia.

Crowne Plaza Queenstown has been nominated for 'Best Performing 5 & 4 Star Hotel in New Zealand' in the 2008 MAXXotel Best of the Best Awards.

These are the only hotel awards based on operating performance and nominees are selected independently, on the basis of information gathered for the Horwath 2008 Survey of Operations. Hotels cannot enter themselves into the award.

Brett Wilson, Crowne Plaza Queenstown General Manager, said he was incredibly proud of his dedicated team at the hotel.

"It was with great pleasure and a lot of pride that I told the team about our nomination. To be recognised for our efforts at Crowne Plaza Queenstown by our peers in the hospitality industry is an honour and an accolade we're thrilled to have."

The winner will be announced on 27 August 2008 during the opening night dinner for the inaugural Hotel Executive Conference (HEXCO 08), aboard the MV Magistic in Sydney Harbour.

Crowne Plaza is located on Beach Street, opposite Queenstown's Steamer Wharf, and enjoys spectacular views over Lake Wakatipu and the mountains, providing a dramatic setting for The Place to Meet in Queenstown. Threesixty, an award-winning hub for Asian-influenced fusion dining, is also located at the hotel.
