Building Nations puts Infrastructure on agenda

Building Nations puts Infrastructure on election agenda

Leading New Zealand's development through infrastructure investment will be the focus of the third annual Building Nations Symposium in Auckland on Wednesday and Thursday this week, says NZCID Chief Executive Stephen Selwood.

Infrastructure is a pillar of social and economic growth. With John Key having laid down National's infrastructure investment challenge, delegates will be interested to hear the response from the Hon Dr Michael Cullen, Selwood says.

Will the private sector get the green light to advance the $2 billion Waterview tunnel in Auckland as a public private partnership (PPP)?

How best do we structure things to ensure timely investment in critical infrastructure?

Will we have the people and resources to do the job?

From roads to rail, broadband to electricity supply, water supply to social infrastructure, improved leadership, governance, and delivery will be central to the discussion. So too will reform of complex regulatory and environmental approval processes and appropriate use of public and private sector debt.

Developed by NZCID and facilitated by InAssociation, Building Nations is the only multi-disciplined annual infrastructure conference in New Zealand The symposium provides domestic and international industry leaders from the energy, water; telecommunication and transport sectors a platform to advance best practice in national infrastructure development.
