Building a Better
World
For the last five years, MWH New Zealand has made a donation to a conservation cause, instead of giving client gifts at Christmas time. In 2008/9 it is turning its focus to pest management, funding twelve projects throughout the country dedicated to making a positive impact on New Zealand’s biodiversity.
In total the infrastructure and environmental consultancy has donated $90,000 to conservation causes over the last five years, with the additional investments of $40,000 for education and outreach and volunteer time from staff members.
The Christmas sponsorships are an important part of the organisation’s global purpose of building a better world, according to Director New Zealand Andrew Caseley. “As an infrastructure organisation we have a unique ability, and responsibility, to make a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We do this through our project work with clients, how we operate as a business, and through community involvements like this”.
The 2008/9 pest management sponsorships will be chosen by a group of staff from MWH’s eighteen offices, and will cover animal and plant pest issues. Staff will also volunteer time throughout 2009 to work alongside community groups on the various projects.
