This week’s Fashion Week a very timely lift

Auckland’s fashionable district of Newmarket says this week's Air New Zealand Fashion Week is like a bright ray on light on the horizon for many retailers and designers.

“Fashion Week will be a timely shot in the arm for many in the New Zealand fashion business. It has not been an easy winter across the country. But this week any doom and gloom is suspended and we celebrate all that is good about New Zealand fashion,” said Cameron Brewer, head of the Newmarket Business Association.

“As the Fashion Capital we are delighted that Fashion Week is getting more accessible to the public, with an exciting public events schedule and Fashion Weekend to cap it off.

“This is the eighth Fashion Week. It’s getting bigger and better every year and there are plenty of spin offs. In Newmarket it’s not only great for the designers showing, it’s great for everyone in the business. It lifts the whole industry and people's creative imaginations. It also focuses people on the future and talking about next year’s seasons.”

New Zealand’s top labels are poised to hit the catwalk from tomorrow - Tuesday 16 September. Newmarket designers showcasing this year include Karen Walker, Zambesi, Trelise Cooper Kids, Annah Stretton, Lucie Boshier, and FourFontaine Streetwear.
