Singapore Airlines “Best Airline” For 17th Year
Singapore Airlines Voted “Best Airline” For The 17th Consecutive Year
Readers of a leading travel magazine, Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, have voted Singapore Airlines as “Best Airline” for the 17th consecutive time in its 2008 Readers’ Poll. The airline was also voted as the winner in four other categories in the annual poll: Best Asia-Pacific Airline, Best First Class, Best Business Class and Best Economy Class.
With ten editions worldwide, Business Traveller is the world’s leading publication geared towards frequent business travellers.
These accolades come soon after the recently announced rating of Singapore Airlines as “Airline of the Year” in the annual Skytrax survey.
In another survey conducted by leading US-based magazine, Travel + Leisure, readers voted Singapore Airlines as “Best International Airline” for the 13th consecutive time in its World’s Best Awards 2008 survey. The magazine has a readership of almost five million.
Singapore Airlines’ newest aircraft in its fleet, the A380, has also received its share of accolades, despite being in service for less than a year. UK-based Airline Business judged Singapore Airlines as winner in the “Operations” category of its Airline Strategy Awards 2008, citing the work done to ensure a smooth entry into service of the Airbus A380. Judges said:
“Singapore Airlines was well aware that the eyes of the world would be on it, but it also knew that being the first operator could result in great rewards. After the first nine months of operation, it is clear the airline did its homework, and the risk of being the ‘guinea pig’ operator has paid off.”
As one of the judges commented: “SIA’s nomination is a standout. Their introduction into service of the Airbus A380 has been an impressive thing to witness.”
While SIA and Airbus had more time to prepare for EIS than anticipated, given that the first aircraft was delivered 18 months late, SIA’s preparation work was meticulous and extensive and, some say, a model for future new aircraft service entry.
Singapore Airlines has also secured several repeat awards in categories ranging from inflight service, food and beverage, ground services, safety and punctuality to company management. This reflects the airline’s underlying philosophy to constantly innovate and keep pace with the changing tastes and preferences of customers.
Commented Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President (Marketing & The Regions): “We are heartened by the results and are grateful to our customers for their unwavering support of the airline.
“The awards are also a tribute to our staff, who have worked consistently hard to deliver the best possible service to our customers. The results are an encouragement to everyone in Singapore Airlines to constantly innovate and improve our products and services to provide our customers with the very best premium travel experience.”
