New Lynn networking group looking for local members
You won’t find a butcher, baker or candlestick maker at the newly launched BNI networking chapter in New Lynn, but traditional values like building strong relationships within the community remains a major focus for the fledgling group of business people.
Actively looking for business owners to join the 15 strong group, the New Lynn chapter wants to create a truly local business network in the area.
New chapter president and founder, Suzanne MacLean (of Blockhouse Bay Harvey’s real estate office) says the group is conscious that effective business networking is more about getting the ‘right mix of people together’, than it is about swapping business cards with as many people as possible.
“When we first started getting together, people were shy and the talk was all business. But now relationships are beginning to develop and the chatter is less formal and more friendly.”
The chapter is looking for, among others, a local solicitor, building consultant, property valuer, florist, wine vendor, personal trainer, plumber and electrician to join the group which meets every Thursday morning at 6.45am at the Robert Harris Café in New Lynn Shopping Centre.
