NZ Businesses Are Chronic Underchargers Says Software Specialist
According to Software Associates, one of New Zealand’s fastest growing information technology specialists, New Zealand businesses are losing up to five per cent of their profits each year, as a result of undercharging.
‘New Zealand businesses are chronic underchargers. It is much more common than overcharging, especially with SMEs,’ says Keith Mackenzie, managing director of Software Associates. ‘Lost dockets, a lack of standardised billing and bad management of paperwork can all lead to business owners not charging as much as they should.’
The Auckland based I.T company recommends businesses use job management and invoicing software to help them keep track of costs and bill more accurately.
Implementing a job tracking and invoicing software package such as Software Associates’ JobPro can help companies develop good pricing structures and keep track of invoices.
Although JobPro was only officially launched in February 2008, it has already been having a positive impact on businesses around the country. One Software Associates client based in Tauranga increased turnover by 15% in one month because the software system enabled them to correct their pricing structure. Another business owner hadn’t realised that his drivers weren’t recording jobs properly until he started using the system.
JobPro can be installed on anything from a desktop computer to a full blown network; if the mobile data interface is utilised it means that the business owner can have access to the information wherever they are.
The software starts at an affordable $2,500 and can be configured to suit the specifications of each individual business. It can also be plugged into well-known accounting software package, MYOB.
