What a wonderful web we weave

What a wonderful web we weave

The Auckland Chamber of Commerce warmly invites you to its next Creative Entrepreneurs evening to meet the dynamic founders of Silkbody and hear how their magical business story has weaved through the world to crack outdoor and lifestyle markets.

Created six years ago in Dunedin by father and daughter team, David and Emily Cooper, Silkbody has gone on to become one of this country’s hottest export properties and global icons. The brand has penetrated Australia, Iceland, Chile, Germany, the UK and is on the cusp of entering the Asian and wider European markets.

In their own words, "At Silkbody we are passionate about developing silk clothing for a new generation. In today's world of petrochemical dependence, it’s important to be able to wear clothing that's completely natural. Each Silkbody garment carries the story of its evolution from nature - from the finest fibre spun by the tiny silkworm, to the incredibly lightweight, luxurious finished garment. Once you discover Silkbody you won't want to wear anything else against your skin."

Aspects of David and Emily’s journey that will be covered include challenges faced in IP, manufacturing in China, branding, product development and growth management.

Ride the Silk Route rollercoaster from a back room in Waikouaiti to the international market place as you soak up the intriguing story of Silkbody.
