Muffin Break Poll Shows National In The Lead

17 October 2008 Week 3 - update

Muffin Break Election Bean Poll Again Shows National Well In The Lead

With another week of bean casting under its belt, the Muffin Break Bean Poll still has National well in the lead.

National's share of the vote has remained steady on 45% while Labour has moved up a point to 31%. The Greens are still third on 11% and NZ First is also unchanged on 4%. Votes for the "others" make up the rest.

"We now have had over 55,000 beans cast and this week's results are remarkably consistent with last week's," says Muffin Break general manager Garry Croft.

"Record numbers of people are voting but their preferences haven't changed the overall picture. The numbers seem to be firming up but it will be interesting to see whether the leaders' debates have an impact on the Bean Poll."

The Bean Poll, which has been remarkably accurate in the previous two New Zealand elections and in Australia last year, allows customers at the 38 Muffin Break stores nationwide to vote - via coffee bean - for their preferred party.

Weekly Bean Poll results are being posted on www.muffinbreak.co.nz
