Crowne Plaza Auckland Voted Hotel Of The Year

Auckland , 24 October 2008– Excellent food, all round service and standard of accommodation have earned Crowne Plaza Auckland the well deserved label of New Zealand’s hotel of the year.

This is according to Australian Pacific Touring (APT) customers and staff who annually vote across its three categories of hotel series; Premier Plus, Premier and Affordable. Crowne Plaza Auckland took the coveted top category of Premier Plus.

APT is a leadingcoach touring company that operates tours around New Zealand, Australiaand the globe staying at hotels along the way.

CrownePlazastaff recently attended a function at the hotel where Lindsay Cowan, APT Operations Manager presented Brendon Meppem, Crowne Plaza General Manager with the award.

“We’ve been presenting this award for the last eight years and it’s usually juggled between two other IHG properties in Wellingtonand Christchurch, so it’s great to come to Aucklandthis time,” Lindsay says.

“Sometimes Aucklandcan be a bit forgotten because it’s usually at the beginning of the trip, but obviously CrownePlazahas made an impression this time and earned this well deserved award.”

Brendon Meppem accepted the award on behalf of the hotel and staff. “There’s a very high calibre of hotels in this section and it’s a great achievement for CrownePlazato win. It’s a real team effort with every staff member, be they front desk or behind the scenes, contributing to this win, everyone should be very proud.

“The win highlights CrownePlaza’s drive to deliver on its commitment of providing a great hotel that guests love.”

CrownePlazacelebrated the win with a huge chocolate cake made in the hotel kitchen decorated with a replica of the award made out of icing.
