Commonage Villas Wins Fine Design Award
Queenstown’s newest luxury development, Commonage Villas, has won the 2008 Architecture Award for the Otago Southland region, in the Residential Architecture Multiple Housing category.
The New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) and a panel of five judges voted the villas as being the finest, most high quality and visibly stunning development out of all entries in the category.
Crafted from natural materials and boasting international alpine architecture, the 14-villa development was designed by Mason & Wales Architects of Dunedin, a company with a long-standing association with Queenstown and the Central Otago region.
The villas, set on a prime dress circle location on Queenstown Hill, are designed to fit the landscape beautifully. All feature magnificent views over Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountain ranges, large living areas and exquisite interiors with New Zealand made designer furnishings.
Marketing Manager Jessica Trimming said the award was the “official stamp of approval” for the villas, which have been welcoming guests since October 2007.
“Everyone that walks into one of the villas is simply blown away by the design and finish, they have that real ‘wow’ factor,” she said.
“Outside and in, guests recognise the quality of the design and build, the attention to detail and their international appeal.”
Guests staying at Commonage Villas enjoy all the luxuries found at an exclusive lodge, delivered with distinctive New Zealand style.
The highly acclaimed regional award now puts Commonage Villas into contention for the NZIA New Zealand finals, to be announced in March 2009.
