AA Launches New Zealand's Latest Online Mapping Website

The AA has announced today that its online mapping website www.aamaps.co.nz has been comprehensively upgraded to provide New Zealanders with the latest, and most informative, road and destination maps.

The upgraded website includes the very latest State Highway traffic information, traffic web cameras and the most comprehensive search function of any New Zealand maps - with 35 different categories, including everything from accommodation, ATMs and art galleries to petrol stations, places of worship, and public toilets.

Peter Blackwell, General Manager of AA Tourism says "we have a wonderful country to explore and the AA wants to make it as easy as possible to do so. Our new AAMaps website uses the very latest in mapping technology and destination information, including bookings online. It really is an invaluable driving aid for all Kiwis and our international visitors."

The upgraded AAMaps website also allows users to: view a number of destinations and calculate the route which provides the greatest savings in both time and distance; customise the level of detail for online map viewing and printed road trip directions; search for 'nearby' alternatives; provide feedback; and register a free account to save 'favourite' locations. Mr Blackwell says "last year the AA purchased GeoSmart Maps Ltd, New Zealand's most innovative online mapping company.

That investment has enabled us to improve the printed maps that are so popular with our Members, as well as our online mapping capabilities." "The AA is already working with Geosmart on ways to improve the next version of the AAMaps website. Before 2008 is over I hope to announce the latest improvements - just in time for holiday season driving."
